Teacher wins NIHERST recognition

Teacher Mr. Nazrudeen Baksh  received an award for his participation in the NIHERST Science Camps for a period of over 5 years, hosted in the Technology Education Lab in Debe Secondary School.  Mr. Baksh demonstrated leadership and seeks to instill the passion for curiosity in his students to motivate them to learn how things work and to apply these principles to become creative contributors to Trinidad and Tobago.

NIHERST hosted staff, project partners and their guests at a formal dinner celebration on January 4, 2013. Awards were received by long serving members of staff and retirees. Other categories included Congratulatory Awards and Other Special Awards.

NIHERST extended its gratitude to its staff and partners who make up the collective who strive toward continual promotion of science, technology and innovation in Trinidad and Tobago.

The National Institute of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (NIHERST) was established as a statutory body by Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Act No. 20 of 1984, now Chapter 39:58. Since its establishment, NIHERST has resourcefully pursued its mandate to promote the development of science, technology and higher education in Trinidad and Tobago, and enhance the innovative, creative and entrepreneurial capabilities of the general population. The fulfillment of this mandate has been guided both by changes in national development priorities and government’s policy imperatives.
